PPGL and PPGI have different properties and uses when used in industry and medicine for different properties and settings, respectively. PPGI is specifically for steel sheets as a material in which one layer of zinc (galvanized iron/steel) is coated and the other layer is coated by a polymer paint. Zinc coating is an oxidative sacrificial barrier that preferentially oxidizes the zinc to the steel. Due to its advantages like good performance and long service life and also flexibility, such material is used in construction, automotive components and household appliances. PPGL (Pre-Painted Galvalume Steel). In comparison, PPGL uses a galvalume coating—55% aluminum, 43.4% zinc and 1.6% silicon. The aluminum-zinc alloy forms a denser and more adherent protective layer compared to pure zinc and possesses better corrosion resistance in humid or saline environments. PPGL is coated with a polymer paint layer, similar to PPGI, making it more aesthetic as well as longer lasting.

  • Corrosion Resistance: PPGL’s aluminum-zinc alloy is more resistant to oxidation than PPGI’s zinc layer, especially in saline or acidic conditions. Studies show that the useful lifespan of PPGL can exceed PPGI by 20–30% in coastal zones. Heat Resistance: The aluminum incorporated into PPGL can withstand temperatures up to 300°C without degradation; thus PPGL is suitable design for thermal applications. PPGI is limited to lower-temperature environments. Aesthetic Flexibility: Both materials have vibrant paint finishes, but the smoother alloy surface of PPGL allows for paint adhesion, which lowers the risk of paint peeling over time.
